The irony and hypocrisy is simply overwhelming. Here is the CEO of Alaska Municipal League arguing against shifting PERS costs to local governments even though she is covered in PERS as a non-government employee!
Did you know that Alaska has spent more than $15 Billion on capital spending projects since 2005? Add to that another nearly $14 Billion of federal taxpayer dollars and Alaska spent nearly $30 Billion on capital projects in the last 10 years. And what do we have to show for it? Very little.
Alaska spends loads of money and some want to spend even more on K12 education. Why? What will be the return on that investment? Is there any accountability for student achievement and spending buckets of money on K12?
