On January 5th you have a great chance to support an Alaskan who is standing up for you and your Alaska Property Rights. It’s not often when a single individual stands up to the U.S. government. Most of us would shy away from that because we were easily intimidated and/or we didn’t have the financial resources to stand up to Uncle Sam. Then along comes John Sturgeon who has been fighting this case since 2007 when he was confronted by National Park Service rangers about his hovercraft use in the Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve. The basis of the issue is State sovereignty versus Federal jurisdiction. Mr. Sturgeon bases his case on the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA) which he believes overrides the jurisdiction of the Federal government on state-owned lands and navigable waters within national parks.
If you want to voice support for John Sturgeon and State sovereignty, then here is your opportunity. Please RSVP by email to: dana@moosemamas.org.
