Because Superintendent Carol Comeau will retire as of June 30, 2012, the Anchorage School Board has begun a selection process for her replacement. This new superintendent will be the implementer of the School Board’s vision. Now is the time for you to voice your comments/opinions as to what is important to you in an effective leader. The School Board has placed their criteria on the District’s website and an online survey is also provided.
A community meeting is scheduled for September 10th at a yet to be determined location. Interestingly, ASD employees can also provide input at a three hour meeting later on the same day (public may attend). So, those of you who have ideas to improve our education system should attend. Those whose kids are on waiting lists for ABC, charter, language immersion and other alternative schools in the District should especially attend to voice their opinions.
