APF Donors Meet Kimberley Strassel at Insiders’ Briefing

Key supporters of the Alaska Policy Forum had the pleasure of spending a private evening with renown writer Kimberley Strassel recently.  Avid political watchers will know Strassel from the Wall Street Journal’s “Potomac Watch” column and from her frequent appearances on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Fox News, and NBC’s “Meet the Press.” As a member of the Wall Street Journal’s elite editorial board, she also authors unsigned pieces in the opinion section of the paper.

Strassel opened the sit-down by emphasizing that Washington DC will never solve things and that the real solutions lie at the state level, which makes organizations like Alaska Policy Forum so important. The intimate evening included food and drink, a political conversation between Strassel and Suzanne Downing of Must Read Alaska, a private question-and-answer session with attendees and Strassel, and autographed copies of her book The Intimidation Game.  Downing covers the event here.

Awards were also presented during the evening. The first was given to former Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell for launching the first free-market state think tank in Alaska. The final award was presented to Ray & Lee Ann Kreig for their many years of support to the Forum, including being instrumental to its founding.
